Our Alerts category is designed to be used for missing persons, both missing children and missing adults, as well as crime alerts. Think of it as "headline news crime".
Everyone is able to post an alert, we do however hope that federal agencies, local police, and even county sheriffs will use this part of our website to spread news to the people of the town quicker than other methods.
All items that are posted here are provided in a special "crime feed" on our site. Anyone who's setup a news reader, or just news aggravator online or offline set to download the information will receive it as soon as the program re-downloads the information. Our alerts feed, like our others, is updated every time you check it! Although we recommend using the default download time, or just checking every hour or so. You might miss out on posts, but you'll still get news quicker than from other media sources.
So picture it: someone goes missing, you or the police submit a missing person alert, hundreds of people that are subscribed to the crime alert feed (containing the missing persons alerts) are instantly notified. Or a murder happens, people or police agency submits a crime alert, hundreds of people are notified by the crime alert feed.
The alternative? Well, you have to have a police scanner, and hope the conversations aren't over cell phone. Or you have to listen to the radio 24/7, and hope they broadcast over it, or you wait for the paper, that could be 24 hours later! With our crime alert feed for missing persons and crime in general, people are notified the second their reader queries our server.

Community
Our community section is the pride and joy of the website. Not so much because of what it contains, but it is the reason why Everywhere's Local was founded! We believe in assisting communities all over the world, and have allowed them all to have a page on our site.
So, with this in mind, all the community items here are designed for local events, get together, resources, government info, garage sales, basically anything that you'd find in a local paper -- only here you get to choose what's listed, and it's free.
So what we want posted here, or just expect to be, are items that would be in the local paper community section. Current events, local highlights of achievements (events subcategory), anything that makes your community better, highlights your community, or just makes it feel more like home. You can even just post a title, and a url to your website or of that of another business or organization, although a description would probably help people actually see it!

Assistance Groups, Organizations, et cetera
Any assistance group is welcome to post their details & a link to their site, even a phone number! This can be abuse lines, shelter numbers, food banks, rape hotlines, child abuse, AA, Alzheimer's, cancer, anything like that. If you have a global organization (i.e. you serve more than a specific area not covered by our normal post options), please contact us, tell us the information in the post, and, if we believe it's valid, we'll make it a global "local" post for no charge. If we believe that it's more of a local only thing, but you're seeking funds from others, we may ask for a small amount or seek another arrangement (we're nice, don't ask much, but won't be taken advantage of either!).
If you aren't an assistance group, not an organization, or anything else like this, don't submit an ad here, do so in the "services" category. The services category is designed to hold all ads for companies that don't fit into our other categories. This means, no "computer sales" companies here, it'll be removed. Similar to any other non-related listing.

Arts & Entertainment
Arts and Entertainment is designed for people to "have a life" so to speak, while people providing said life for you can tell you how. Really, it's just a nightlife, fun, go out and do something type of category that people can post, or just read about what's available to them. After all, the next hit band might be in your town, just waiting to be discovered!

News
Well, the news is pretty self-explanatory. It's news. While newspapers may enter information (we do infact encourage them to do so -- despite the "waste of time, and we'll sue you if you post anything close to ours" attitude). All the news is user-posted, or earthquake and volcano activity information (magnitude over 7, and orange & red volcano status) provided by usgs's rss feeds. If our feed reader finds an alert of that type, a news flash is added to our news automatically. Why? Because it effects the world, bad earthquake, and you'll want to donate money, same for a volcano. Both can cause a tsunami, and even though warning systems exist, a little heads up doesn't hurt -- as long as you're not overly worried about it.

Recreation
Everyone needs a break from the day right? Or perhaps just a vacation. Regardless, everyone needs a little recreation to help out the stress in their lives. That's what this category's for. Basically it's an extension of the community category, but when we stated to add these sections to community, we realized that recreation was basically a category all in it's own, so here it is. Even though a person might have a world renown hiking trail, any posts here desired to be a global "local" post will have a small fee (and we do mean small, if you take a hike amongst your trails, you'll probably find enough money to pay for it!).

Classifieds
Classifieds, online classifieds, local classifieds, whatever you want to call them, they're here too. This is meant for actual classified postings such as things for sale, or things wanted (although they go in the wanted category. As long as it's not illegal, not listed in our forbidden items, follows common sense, feel free to post it. It's free to post any classified item (even housing!), but for a global "local" post, once again a fee will be charged. We're not meaning to be mean, but cut back on spam.
So submit your items to our classified section, make a sale, make a few bucks, or even thousands, there's no catch nor any percentage that comes to us. Classifieds are free as long as it's not a global post.

Wanted (wanted ads)
Not help wanted, if you want that, check out our job postings. Wanted is if you're wanting something, and either don't see it in the classifieds, or something similar, and want to post a "I want this!" classified. Similarly, if you are just looking for something, wanted is your category.
So, if you want to sell something, submit your ad to classifieds, otherwise put the ad here.

Help wanted, inquire inside. Looking for a job? This is your spot. Need help? This is where you post your job.
Every job posting ad costs, the price varies ($25-100 for a single post, $12.50-$50 if in a pre-purchase group -- standard prices, job packs are cheaper, and the price is "make an offer"). So the more jobs you list, if you purchase the job ads ahead of time, and you'll get a better price. All you need to do is register for a business account, login, and click the "purchase slots". Our automated system will take care of it for you (and we'll step in if it can't handle it).
But if you are an employer, please post your job ad here! It won't hurt your budget, and will give you more exposure. And based on user searches on our site, job postings are the second most looked at category.
We try to collect as much information as could be relevant to the job in our "post job" form. This is to help employers tailor their posts in case they don't have a set cut and past job listing description. Although the ability to search these attributes will be provided, so it's recommended to fill out all of them as they related to the job.
If you're wanting to post your resume, don't post in the "job postings", put your resume in "looking for work."

It doesn't matter whether your just a normal person, or affiliated with a real estate agency, you may submit a housing ad here free of charge! There is by default no way to tell the difference between the ads, so no one will be able to "buy" their way to the top, nor will they be able exclude real estate agencies or just normal people
Of course, if we find that it's being abused by real estate agencies, such as numerous duplicate posts or other tactics, we will assess a small fee for these agencies to post a housing classified ad. Although it will be free for individuals.
So, if you're wanting a little extra cash by renting or leasing out your property, and want to expand your clientele, submit your hosing ad now!

This is a paid section of our site also. It's meant for any business (or individual, although you'd most likely have a home business) to post a flier (single-page) or catalog (multi-page) item to our site. We currently allow up to 10 pages (we recommend that you have the page as an image file, gif/jpg/png).

Pictures are allowed (fully clothed) in our personals, the erotic section we're a tad bit more lenient, but no nudity is allowed or anything else along those lines (full details are in out terms).
